Apple Patents New Snowboarding Device

According to a 41-page patent discovered by the Apple Insider website, Apple are working on an activity sensor that would allow snowboarders and skiers to know the air time, speed and the amount of power absorbed during their session.

Apple explains, “… a typical snowboarding person might regularly exclaim after a jump that she 'caught' some 'big sky,' 'big air' or 'phat air' without ever quantitatively knowing how much time really elapsed in the air." The device intends to give them that information, using a micro processing unit and sensors to gather it.

The device, if developed, will display air time, speed, best air time, average air, total air time, dead time, real activity time and average speed – as well as keeping a record of these.

Keep an eye out for this one.
